Academic Tutoring Services
The Learning Spot provides services for children in K-12th grade. Some courses will be offered online, in person, or at other Education Institutions through private contracts.
Assessment & Consultation for Grades K-8
We will administer an assessment in the identified subject(s). Our Learning Specialists will analyze the results and design an instructional plan to meet the needs of each learner. A conference will be held to communicate the results and discuss the learning plan.
Math Small Group (High Impact Tutoring)
Grades k-5 | Group Tutoring
These small group tutoring classes are designed to teach, review and reinforce major elementary grade level math concepts. Students will engage in hands-on, collaborative activities focused on exposing students to real-world application of number sense, fractions, geometry, measurement and problem solving through direct instruction, a series of games and projects.
Reading Small Group (High Impact Tutoring)
Grades K-5 | Group Tutoring
These small group tutoring classes are designed to teach, review and reinforce major reading and writing concepts. Students will engage in hands-on, collaborative activities focused on reading comprehension and vocabulary through discussion and review of literary works delivered through guided readers.
1-1 Reading Tutoring
Private Tutoring Grades: K-8
This is a 0ne-on-one private reading tutoring service. We utilize the Orton-Gillingham approach when teaching literacy to primary learners. It is designed to deliver targeted focused intervention/remediation of skills, bridge learning gaps, and increase reading levels. This is done through direct, targeted instruction based on students' performance on the baseline assessment administered prior to tutoring.
Reading Focus Areas: Phonics, Reading Comprehension, and Written Response to the text.
1-1 Math Tutoring
Private Tutoring Grades K-8
This is a one-on-one private math tutoring service. It is designed to deliver targeted focused intervention/remediation, bridge learning gaps, and increase conceptual understanding of math skills. Students receive targeted instruction based on students performance on the baseline assessment administered prior to tutoring. Trained instructors provide direct, explicit, and hands-on approaches utilizing digital and tactile manipulatives to foster a deeper understanding of math concepts.
Math Focus Areas: Number Sense, Problem Solving Strategies, Conceptual Understanding of concepts, Math Practice for Fluency.
